Hiya! the bike's quite 'top heavy' but once it's moving it's ok. Could do with a bit more power-but saying that...it's fast enough! The brakes, handling and luggage carrying capacity are excellent...the engine's a bit 'agricultural' but once it's spinning you don't notice..also the gear change's 'clunky'. The accessories available for this bike are endless..which is another good thing. 'Alli in all' I am very satified with this bike...the only thing that lets BMW down is the 'smugness' of the main dealers and the fact that they all think that we've got bottomless pockets!!

Start bad and end well... Since buying it second hand with only 4,000 miles on the clock, the fuel gauge stopped working and the top yoke bearing rusted out and cause the bike to handle like a pig. I was able to fix the latter myself due to the great design of the bikes steering but it is annoying you need to calibrate the fuel strip with a computer I don't have access to. The steering lock is the square root of useless given that someone managed to cut it out with bolt cutters and I there are some features that dont feel completely thought through. For example the flimsy pegs holding on the wind shield rattled against their metal recess at low revs. So much so I used rubber headphone tips to form a bushing between the surfaces. Ok... the good bit... I absolutely love it! I wouldnt change it for any other bike unless its a newer GS. I hope always to have one. .

I have had the gs since 2009 it had 7k on it and was 3 years old now 58k and will never sell it ,I also have a 2300 cc rocket 3 but doesn't hold a candle to the gs ken.

the widescreen is HORRIBLE. At anything approaching motorway speeds the buffeting and the noise is horrendous. I have one of the quietest helmets on the planet, and whenever I ride the GS i wonder where the noise comes from. I have tried all the possible variations of the elevation and angle, the torbinators, the winglests etc etc. Nothing helps. Only eliminating the screen altogether seems to help. Otherwise this the best motorcycle that i have ever owned. It will travel distances and handle the bends with the agility of some other sportsbikes, until the straights when they pull away, only to be caught in the bends again. Buy one, but be warned about the screen.

BMW R1200 GS if most gs riders tell me they have a common fault ie abs pump, low voltage output. Then why do BMW not see it as a manufacturing fault and CHARGE £1300 for a replacement part. Con merchants. Sort it out BMW.

Best bike ever, commuting or 2000 miles in a week in Spain, it does everything extraordinarily well.

Bike handles and goes like a dream, however in the 1st 12 months the bike has had various warranty issues. 1, brake resorvoir cap leaking, 2, oil leak around starter motor, 3, screen replaced due to cracking, 4, screen bolts replace due to falling out. 5, drive shaft replaced due to corrosion, 6, recall for side switch sand. All handled with no issues. I do worry about the build quality, BMW have certainly let it slip.
