“Wow! Didn't expect the complexity of flavor that this brought. I expected much more obvious wood notes that I feared would overtake the complexity of the sake, but it all came together in a beautiful, delicious, and hard-to-stop-sipping flavor and aroma.”
“I bought six different types of sake to compare. This junmai taru from Kikumasamune was the lowest rated of the six, so naturally I started with the worst and worked my way up. Take "worst" with a grain of salt here. After trying all 6, I had a hard time deciding whether I liked this sake the best or Kizakura's hana junmai ginjo. After much debate, I think Kizakura's product barely edged in the win. That being said, Kikumasamune makes a great product, and I wouldn't hesitate to try another one of their products if given the opportunity. This sake has a very unique flavor profile, at least to my limited experience. I started it chilled, then continuously sampled it over time as it warmed up to room temperature. I think it hit its best point right before room temp. It became smooth, the cedar notes were a pleasant, mildly bitter undertone that carried forward lightly towards the end, and the general sake flavor profile was very pleasant. I looked forward to coming home from work to have another glass. An added perk is that the bottle is pretty cool. I plan on keeping it around for a while.”
