“The tubes themselves are GREAT if you can manage to get a good set. Unfortunately, regardless of what Kevin states, these tubes are DEFINITELY NOT tested for microphonics. Of the (4) tubes I ordered (2) would, upon the lightest tap with the tip of an eraser, send a very loud thump to my speakers. Wrote customer service and was told "well we don't recommend tapping the tubes when they're on". They were kind enough to send me (2) replacements. Of those (2), (1) would let out a large thump upon lightly touching it with the tip of a pencil eraser. All of the tubes tested ok on my tube tester so there was no issue there. I'm flummoxed a bit here. Does anyone know a better method of testing for microphonics other than the tap test that's been used by every tube guy I know for the last 40 years? Not noise, but specifically, microphonics. It's the only way I've ever known. Right now I've got (3) Brimars that are dead silent and (1) that failed the tap test.”

“My primaluna evo300 integrated sounded great with the stock tubes, however these Brimar's in the driver position made a Big difference. Smoother highs with no roll off and wonderful mid range.”
