With an approximate 5,000 LP vinyl library which was amassed for almost 50 years, there was a need for a definitive cleaning and maintenance approach. I previously owned a VPI vacuum cleaner and the results were very mixed. I did extensive research, there seemed to be a lot of ways to clean with different approaches and results. The Kirmuss offers results of restoration and that was the biggest selling point to me. It is a time-consuming approach however the results I have achieved in a short time have made it worth it already. Albums that I didn't listen to because of noise and distortion of music, not just pops and clicks, went away. There have been records that were beyond resortations but now I know the line. Also, the extras associated with the Upscale Audio version of the Kirmuss is worth it. Everything went great with the transaction. If you want to spend the time to clean your records this is system and the Upscale package is a great value.

Well-constructed and simple to operate, so far seems to work well. I decided on the Upscale model for the third 33rpm slot, glad I did.

I had many albums that were never playable.I am talking about brand new albums from many years ago. I thought “Oh well, that’s how it goes “. So I bought this machine. Can’t believe the results. These albums play perfectly. I’ve never tried any other machine, but am glad I happened to pick one this one. It works. Period.

The Krimuss guy comes off as a snake-oil selling lunatic. And the instructions/manual kind of confirms my suspicion. That said, I bought the Upscale Audio version. It certainly cleans records. Very well. The process is horribly time-consuming, however. For this reason, I am reserving mine for my grungy old records I have not played for decades (and may never; I'm lazy), or bad condition used records. Otherwise, before throwing new stuff onto a turntable, I will likely use my old VPI 16.5. I will leave it to others to debate ultra-sonic cleaner frequencies, etc. But I intend to try other ultrasonic cleaners that rely on industrial ultrasonic tanks, using different or multiple frequencies, with attachments for record cleaning. I want to determine whether the "involved" Krimuss procedure combined with ultrasonic cleaning is the key or simply the ultrasonic stage. In an Upscale video (great, great video) on "500 hour break-in," Kevin brings up an excellent point on having the ability compare devices side-by-side in your environment. Rarely do we regular consumers have the ability to do this. I hope to compare it with a cleaner I did not buy and report back. The bottom line is that in my experience the Krimuss device and procedure produce pristine records. But it is not a procedure I would devote time to before playback for every record. PS: shout out to Sean-Paul for the Primaluna help!

The Kirmuss works great, I've cleaned over 50 records so far. The Upscale audio edition which allows 3 45s to be cleaned at the same time was a great upgrade. The cleaning process can be time-consuming because of the number of cycles needed to complete the process so cleaning 3 at a time instead of 2 helps.

I owned two record cleaners before purchasing the Kirmuss. Neither were ultrasonic cleaners, but they got the job done by removing surface dirt. The Kirmuss is on a whole other level, being able to restore the sonics in a record by cleaning out dirt deeply embedded in the groves and removing buildup from previous cleaners. Yes it is time-consuming and you need to follow the instructions, but it is well worth it and the best upgrade I'm made to my system in a long time.
