“I was excited to receive my new Enable chair — it is awesome. I love how the brake stops me immediately when brake is engaged — chair doesn’t budge. The wheels are quiet and it is so easy to walk the chair.
I want to commend your employee, Caitlyn, who was on top of things starting with my first question; and even when she was sick, she was very prompt to respond to my questions and resolve my problems. Caitlyn was always pleasant; made me feel like she loves her job and wanted to please me, the customer. Caitlyn’s boss and the company are very fortunate to have such a steadfast, thorough employee. She is a model employee which is a rare find today. I appreciate all her help.

“I purchased the Vela chair as I have a very small alcove between a hallway and the entrance to the master bedroom. A typical wheelchair can’t make the turn as the back wheels don’t rotate. Not being able to see the vela chair before purchasing,I purchased an office chair with a wheel base the same as the vela chair. It worked, but the wheelbase kept rotating and was just physically difficult for me to push and keep it straight. My husband was 6’2” before being hunched over by Parkinson’s and has a lot of issues with freezing and not being able to move. He finds this chair a little high for him to scoot and thinks that feature might work better if it was the lower chair, but likes the added height that actually lets him look down on things at the counter height eating area. I use the push bar and the foot rest and easily push him into the bedrooms and two bathrooms if he can’t move fast enough. The pushbar does interfere with the mechanism that lets the seat swivel to the left when the brake is on, but works ok if it is off. This has enabled me to avoid alterations to entryways that maybe would have worked, and the frustration of dealing with a company that didn’t really respond like Vela does.”

“I have this chair & it is wonderful to increase my freedom to do more of the things I love & want to do. That said there are some ways it could be improved for a person who has no mobility or very little! I love the way I pedal it with my own two feet & it gives me some exercise helps me keep moving. I love the way you can lower it & then put it higher! It is expensive but it does what no other wheelchair or transport chair can do. I have a small home & lots of stairs. I've adapted it as best as I can. So glad I have the Independence Chair! It makes a huge difference in improving my life!”

“Recently purchased this for my mother with Parkinson’s. It’s amazing how much it helps. She can raise/lower it to self perform kitchen tasks at the stove, sink, lower cabinets, fridge, etc. she also uses it for mobility in the house and for her sewing projects and office projects. She does need a bit of a push on thick carpet but with the addition of a push bar that is solved. With harder surfaces this isn’t an issue. It does move better on the thick carpet than her roller/walker. Much more mobile and comfortable than a wheelchair and easier for tighter spots. The brake and height raising significantly assist with getting in and out making it a cinch. Much safer than her old desk and kitchen chairs. After the first day she said: “ this is like being a person again.” And broke down in tears.
I highly recommend this product. The staff has been great with customer service, shipping updates, and installation/assembly assistance though very little was needed. I rarely write reviews so this shows how impressed we are with this product.”

“My Vela rolling chair better than satisfies my needs at this time. I have lifting recliners, a lifting bed, and a lifting toilet. I don’t walk at all but can transfer from one seat to another by using 2 canes to stand. Medicare and my doctor would like for me to use my power wheelchair to move around the house, but I know I need to use my own muscles as much as possible. My Vela chair lets me not only keep my legs exercised but keeps me more active by allowing me to work in the kitchen, laundry and my closet. I now have more interesting things to do and hopefully will be able to keep my ability to use my legs to facilitate transitions from my various seats on my own for as long as possible.
Another plus for the Vela chair is the great customer support. You my not need it because the Vela chair is well constructed, but at 82 and a little slow to adapt to new ways and equipment, I needed to ask for help a lot. Lindsey Atkinson, Quality of Life Expert was the person I talked to most. She never was impatient with me and seemed glad to hear from me and offered good suggestions. I just needed time to allow myself to become accustomed to a different way of getting around. Let that be a lesson to anyone else “Be patient,” Take time to adjust. It will be well worth it.”
