“I purchased the Vela Independence chair in July 2023 because both my husband and I are seniors with back problems that preclude standing without pain. Preparing meals, etc. was becoming increasingly difficult.
We've both used the chair now for seven months. It has made a dramatic improvement in our ability to function in the kitchen.
The chair is well-built, sturdy, comfortable and moves like a charm. We can glide nearly effortlessly from point to point on our laminate kitchen floor. The electric lift/lowering mechanism is convenient and operates easily with the buttons on one arm. The brake makes for safe use, especially since the chair moves so readily - on a slight slope it might roll on it's own.
It is expensive; but I could find nothing else that came close to fitting our needs so well during my research. It is heavy, due to the battery, and does have a somewhat large "footprint" - for stability. So, it is important to determine whether your intended areas of operation will accommodate it.
The person at Enable Me who helped me select the right chair was patient and helpful over the several days it took me to make a decision. She followed up after shipping and receipt of the chair as well. It took about a week from purchase to arrive by truck. It was extremely well-packed and came nearly fully assembled.
All in all, I consider the Vela Independence chair an excellent purchase for us.”

“In response my husband, Lee absolutely loves his chair. It has come in super handy for him, especially in the kitchen for his labor-intensive canning, long tedious cooking process. It had come in handy to move around on the chair from sink to stove to counter to refrigerator throughout the entire kitchen, relieving long hours of standing on his feet throughout the day.
Bottom line he loved it. The chair proved to be the perfect purchase working as a superb tool for his kitchen cooking needs.

“Sadly my mother died towards the end of May. She enjoyed using the chair and it allowed her to safely pick up things off the floor. It allowed her to interact with the dog. I have been using the chair as an office chair on the days I telecommute. I helps that I am about the same height as my mother.”

The individual attention I received to help order the correct chair, as well as getting financial assistance was amazing. “I have MS and am only moderately disabled. Mostly I just get very tired from standing. I love to cook, and I keep my new VELA chair in the kitchen so I can cook sitting down. I prep at the counter with the chair all the way up, reach things in lower cabinets with it down, and be at the stovetop with it halfway up. And I can whizz around in between without getting up and down. Plus it's super comfy and restful to sit in. It is a real energy-saver for me.”
