“Hard to say… needed to return it and get another one since it only worked for one ride.
Good news, the Cycliq team was very responsive. Hopefully the next one works flawlessly and for a long time”
“The camera itself seems to be good quality. The package is surprisingly heavy for its size, giving a good impression from the off. Due to the handlebars I'm my bike came with, I have no choice but to use Deda's own mount, which connects underneath the stem. This is made of plastic and is not as rigid as it could be, meaning that the vibration is sometimes greater than the ability of the image stabilisation to handle, but up to that point it seems to work well. At least I was able to mount it easily due to the choice of the GoPro mount, which seems to be pretty universal these days. I particularly like the way old video files are overwritten when the card is full, as it means I don't need to worry about clearing it out periodically.
The light could be better. As a 'be seen' option I like the organic flash, but there's absolutely zero side visibility which does detract from it a little. I don't think it's adequate for seeing by on dark roads, so I have chosen to disable the non-flashing modes and intend to supplement it with an Exposure light at some future stage.
The Cycliq software is less impressive. If all you want is a short clip from a single segment it works fine. When I tried joining several segments together it seemed to take ages to generate the low-resolution preview (a single 5 min segment is generated in a few seconds). The Strava overlay is a nice idea but very limited. Compared with the Garmin Virb software it's very poor, although I do like the way it automatically aligns the video to the data.
If the camera itself is good value, I was pretty disappointed with the postage options. To charge £300 for the camera and then demand extra for postage is a bit mean. Paying yet more for express postage that wasn't very express was particularly annoying.”
“Really disappointed for the price. It isn’t a fixed mounting so the camera unit spends most of the time pointing up in to the sky.
Not impressed at all.”
