In general it works fine, but it's not necessary, plugging the camera over usb-c to a phone or laptop works exactly the same as using the reader. Getting a card in and out of the reader is very hard.

Run time (compared to my older FLY6) is much shorter, the first video set ran out at 3hr 10min. The older FLY6 would record for 6 to 8 hours and the new unit won't do this out of the box. Cycliq have told me that the warranty etc will be void if I keep it on charge "on the go". This is due to waterproofing issues - I accept this but I already have a front light as well my smart phone (for the app) connected via usb leads to the bike. I think that I have two solutions - find a cable with a short right angle C connector and seal this, together with a 64 or 128Gb microSD card in the port and use a laptop to download/charge/format the unit between rides or: Buy another rear light/camera to replace the new Fly6. I see on the internet that there is a unit which is advertised as having a 110hr run time! What I don't know (but will find out on my next ride with a temporary connection) is whether the new FLY6 can be charged "on the go" and will run for more than 3hr 10m.

Good camera. I use the dual mount so the OLED screen is useless to me. I really wish this model supported ANT+ integration. The video app for producing videos with data overlays is very outdated with no flexibility for the (rather large) overlays and accomodates only 3 channels of data! At this price point I would expect ANT+ integration. The tiny OLED screen really serves no purpose, I actually get more info out of the LED indicator which I can see on the dual mount (if I crane my head down).

I have had several Fly 12's. The CE's had a serious fault in that it could NOT respond to light & shade. I have now had 3 Fly Sport cameras & over a year of hassle. Main problem locked random segments. After a replacement, & endless correspondence it was again replaced. New camera turns its self on whilst charging. Latest camera STILL has the same problem, RANDOM locked segments. In general the camera is NOT as good as the original Fly 12. Design faults; Most riders have the camera mounted under the handlebars (as in your demo video) in this position you can't see the recording light. WHY isn't the recording light GREEN & at the side where you can see it? The charge port cover is flimsy & will fail in a short time, The CE at least had a proper weatherproof door. The card sent with the camera will NOT record long enough without overwriting. for 4 hrs + you need a 128Gb card. The lanyard is too short. The low light capability is inferior. The camera is too expensive. A competitor's camera is twice as good & half the price & 2 years of constant use NO faults & it's submersible. Cycliq needs to review its market. Is it a safety camera, a commuter camera, serious cyclists camera? A commuter (1hr ride to work) can buy a good submersible camera for around $90, + $40 for a good light. Cycliq; make a good reliable camera with a long battery life (7 hrs) maybe even make one without a light. When I go on frequent long rides I use a separate light as the Fly battery won't last. Only use the Fly 12 to ride out to races with light & camera. I believe in Cycliq, but you must get your act together.

The battery life on the Fly6 Gen 3 is unacceptably short. If you go for anything near a 4 hour ride, forget about having the Fly6 still recording, and that's when the device is new. The device I'm writing about now, is a replacement of my less than 1 year-old Fly6, which just stopped working, unexplicably. That device battery life had dropped to well less than 4 hours in less than one year of usage. I had a previous generation Fly6 which had much longer battery life, so I fail to understand the strategy is reducing battery life in a newer generation device. Bottom line is, most of my rides are in the 2-3 hour category, which means I absolutely need to remember to re-charge my 50-70% discharged Fly6 or I will be without the camera function and likely the tail light function before my next ride is over. As in the first Fly6 I owned, the picture quality is very good. Image stabilization works very well and if ever needed, license plates can almost always be read with images from the Fly6.

Battery life is not as good as promoted and cannot pair with Garmin Computer. Wish it stored to cloud.
