FireBoard Pulse Reviews

3.9 Rating 47 Reviews
I got my first Pulse on the initial pre-order and then the wife got me one for Christmas. After a few uses, it's been great! No wires to screw with and makes life easy. Sometimes it takes a little longer to show on the app & Fireboard but haven't had a session where it didn't yet. Would be nice to add a force connect option to search if it's taking too long but it's always connected within a few minutes. I've used in Sous Vide without issue. Inserted into the meat prior to vacuum sealing the bag and it was flawless. For some reason the session didn't record in the app, though. Also stuck it to my Dutch oven with a clip and monitored my chili cook with it. All the other uses have been fairly normal cooks in the oven or Kamado. Overall, I'm impressed. Would be nice to add a dome mounted probe and a grill temp mount that can withstand some higher temps to the ecosystem, but getting rid of at least 2 wired probes is great for me.

I really wanted to love these and purchased 3 of them. FireBoard makes great products and they are usually far better than anyone else. Unfortunately, the temperatures are not even close to the professional wired probes or a Thermapen. I will used these as a backup, but not for meat temperatures or smoker temperatures.

Connected via Yoder Fireboard I have had several "Wireless" probes over the years, and this one is pretty good. My only compliant is the polling rate. What do I mean? It only refreshes every few moments. While this is not a big deal for longer cooks or where you are not trying to hit an exact temp. I could see this being a challenge for something like a steak. The end result of it only refreshing every few minutes is the temp jumping 3 degree's at a time vs a real time read of temp. Regardless, still an impressive device and VERY accurate vs some of its competitors.

Just received my pulse and FireBoard system 2 days ago and using commercially. It has been a game changer so far being able to schedule out my day around cooking and the prediction done times.

I have been using this for the past couple of months. I did have several issues with it connecting to the Spark and the FireBoard Drive 2 but after the latest firmware update, it is now working great. In my opinion, the is much better than the Meater (+). I had 4 of those, and they are all in the BBQ pasture now. What is great about this product is support is willing to work with you and get issues resolved. I've never had that experience with any other company. There are a couple of draw backs though. There is of course the distance issue. This one is better than the Meater, but I still had issues when I would transfer meat into a Dutch over. I'm not sure any thermometer would get past that, but I also haven't had a chance to try the SG1 antenna. Ambient temperature is off from the temperature measured at the grate. This is also a known issue. I'm not sure a lot can be done about this, though. I was able to close the gap though but moving the ambient temp portion further away from the meat. I have always been impressed with FireBoard products, and the Pulse is highly recommended from me if you are invested in the FireBoard environment. It integrates with the other products seamlessly, and you can use the Pulse and all other FireBoard products in one app. Oh, and it controls the fan! Tested this out recently, and it was a pretty slick and useful feature. With their continued firmware pushes, there is no doubt in my mind that this will be an even better product in the future. Side note: It looks like people on here have given the product a poor review because of the long shipping delays. I think that is a poor way to review a product, and it drops the review down for issues not related to how the product performs.

Very impressed with quality of controller app, fan etc. Definitely better fit / finish than my previous tool. Love to see them coming out with wireless probe - waiting on a couple on order but disappointed that the price seems to be well in excess of new offering from meater which at least on specs seems to be a better probe (suspect quality experience with meater). Great to have a wireless, all-in-one solution from FireBoard, however.

Long time customer. Recently switched to BGE so I wanted to add fan and wireless. Ordered FB 2 Drive, and the new fan, and 4 pulse probes. Had to completely delete the old App, and reload to get firmware update but wow is it a nice setup.

Yoder smoker and Fireboard 2 Pro with antenna; setup was smooth. Connection great. First use with turkeys is working fine with app set to link probes with Yoder smoker. Love not having to mess with wires.
