“You have to make sure that the probes are securely inserted into the reader otherwise it’s a faulty reading. It’s not as good as the previous version
The good part is that you can read the temperature directly in a large display”
“As you can see, the 3 Fireboard probes in a glass of water with ice cubes are giving readings from 95 to 45 degrees.
What value does this system have if the information provided is WRONG
i tried changing ports on the readout box with the same results, of inconsistent temp readings.
BTW - The owners indicated they responded, THEY DID NOT!!”
“Device stopped working after the first use. Customer service was dismissive and wanted me to ship the unit at my own cost without any promise the device would be replaced or fixed without incurring additional expense. Now it is a very expensive door jam.”
“Worked once and then died. I contacted customer service, who couldn't seem less interested in standing behind their product. I would have had to send it back at my expense in the desperate hope of getting them to fix it and/or maybe reimburse me for the overpriced cost of the device and the shipping. No thanks, I'll buy something from a company that cares.”
“Well, couldn't wait to try out this new product. I own the Combustion predictive thermometer which I loved. The issue is/was, it does not hold a charge. I can use it once, remove it from the steak or roast or whatever I was grilling and if i don't place it on a charge afterwards, it is dead. It's very annoying, I would expect it to last longer. Anyhow, when I read the reviews on the Fireboard2, they sounded terrific. No predictive ability, but that was secondary to the main purpose of making sure whatever I was grilling was at the proper temperature. The first time I tried the Fireboard2 it froze, locked up completely, but my phone was still displaying a temperature. Okay. After I finished I managed to shut it down and it seemed to be okay, or so I thought. Round two, I was grilling a New York strip steak, not too large, 12 ounces, I inserted the probe, temp displayed looked good, phone was receiving data, so I put it on the grill. The temp started climbing immediately, almost a degree per second. Not right. I removed the steak, checked the probe for placement, all looked good, tried again and within a couple of minutes my steak was at 146 degrees according to the Fireboard2. (My instant read thermometer read something different, 105 degrees.) To say I am disappointed was putting it mildly. Not sure why it is so wonky. Thought perhaps the probe placement was at fault. After much searching, a lot of searching in fact, few videos actually show probe placement, only one extolling the virtues of the Fireboard2, but I found one, just in case I was inserting it incorrectly, I'm willing to admit I could be wrong, but nope, it was correct. I've used many types of probes before so I really didn't believe that was the issue. Anyhow, not sure what I'm going to do at this point. Definitely will not use this on a brisket or pork butt for now. In a quandary, maybe give one more shot? (Three times sort of thing.)”
“I bought this because the probes that come with the traeger ironwood were wildly inaccurate. The good news is that the fireboard is much more accurate so now I can cook food properly. I love how it had 6 ports even though I only use 3. With 3 I can monitor the temp of the smoker plus two peices of meat. One thing I think it missing is alerts on the app to tell me when target temp is reached. I'm surprised this app doesn't already have that since it's been out for years already. If someone asked my advice about what to buy I'd suggest checking what's come out recently to see how it compares to fireboard because it seems like not much is going into updating this. Also, messing with cables for probes is annoying. Although I knew that ahead of time so am not removing stars for that. But next time I'll be looking for something that doesn't easily turn into a mess that my cats always want to attack haha. But really it's a good temp monitor, thank you so much I appreciate it.”
“I got this for my brother and he loves it, I keep getting pictures of amazing foods being smoked and he loves not having to go back and forth to the fire as much”
