Only used it twice so far and have been pleased with it. It's also a new smoker so figuring both out as of now.

I’ve had a Kamado Joe for quite a while and have gotten decent at temperature control but I find myself constantly checking and making small changes to my best settings. The worst is when I’m doing low and slow and let it get a bit too hot and when I close down the vent a bit I’ve had occasionally snuffed my fires which is, of course, a pain, I’m sure I could get better at it but now I don’t really have to. I just finished my first cook with the FireBoard Drive and fan and it absolutely could not have been easier; 225deg +/- a few degrees for the whole 9 hours. Excellent! I was impressed by the build and material quality of both the FireBoard and the fan unit. Both have a substantial heft to them with no feeling of a one drop and done. The software is quite good and relatively intuitive although a few things like changing screen scales by “pinching” the screen aren’t explained in the instructions (at least where I could find.) I ended up zoomed all the way in the graph and it took some time to get it zoomed out again. I’m not sure if it’s just a technique issue on my part or if the app stopped responding for a bit. As for the included probes, they worked well but, compared to my probes from another maker, the wires seem a bit less substantial. Obviously thinner wires store a bit more compactly but they feel a bit more fragile. Where I have my greatest concern about them is while using the wallet shaped rubber cases to store them. The case has a tight slot to hold the probe tip but once inserted it’s very hard to grab the end of the probe to pull it out given the natural “stickiness” of the rubber which means it’s easy to put a lot of stress directly on the wire connection. The rubber case is a great storage idea but there needs to be a bit more space at the top to allow a good grip on the probe when withdrawing it. Still, I consider these issues to be only minor quibbles and overall I’m extremely impressed by both the quality and performance of my FireBoard.

I said excellent value because I rebuilt a MasterBuilt smoker's controls with this FireBoard II bundle. That saved the smoker from moving to the landfill! It was, in that respect, an excellent value. It's very easy to use and its WiFi connection is very stable. Love this device!

I did a 13-hour smoke on 3 pork butts at the same time on my Kamado Joe. It kept the smoker at 275+/- 2 degrees the entire time. Charcoal usage was about the same or slightly more. The only issue was I never could get the WIFI to work but the Bluetooth worked flawlessly even from 150ft away. i loved the ability to monitor 3 butts from 1 unit. I highly recommend this Fireboard 2 drive. Best thing i have used.
