About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “I am astonished with the speed of the delivery same day. The packaging was very nice. Though the white rook is very badly crafted, it is thinner and shorter than the other rooks, it just looks like it went completely wrong. Pieces are very light, and not pleasing to the touch. A small board, just as the description stated the dimensions, I would not think it is worth the money I spent but, close enough.”

“Nice enough chess set for the price but expected better from a business that prides themselves on quality.There is a section of varnish missing on the front of the playing board and across the branding which doesnt look great especially as this was a gift. The seller referred my complaint to their QA department. No reply from them and was simply told to contact Amazon.”
