About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. Your hand crafted chessboard will be hand wrapped with a beautiful bow and layers of expensive paper. You will receive a hand signed card from your personal wrapper. Once you have removed all the excess wrapping, youll be disappointed to find an absolutely appalling set chess pieces. One rook was missing a chunk from bottom, so it leans heavily to one side. All the knights look completely different and many pieces have clearly never seen a piece of sandpaper. In addition to being very poorly made and uneven, the pieces are very lightweight. This means they are very easy to knock over. So not good for kids. The board is ok.I wish they had skimped on the packaging and not the product itself!I will be returning mine!
