About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Like a few others have said, mine arrived nicely packaged but as soon as I unwrapped it it appeared all scratched up. Very poor quality finish. Ill probably resand and varnish it myself to try and make it presentable.”

“Nice size board plus chess pieces, not too big or small. Comfortable to play. Like that pieces are stored within folding board. Wooden pieces, not magnetic so would have to be stationary to play game.”

“Beautifully presented I may say no complaints at all! Good touches all round!! The only is the piece of red plastic on the black pawn and the ugly mark on the white Queen otherwise I would have easily have given full 5 stars across the board. If these two pieces could be replaced Id be grateful. Love the touch with instructions inside and just the overall presentation. Very nice and I enjoy taking it out the case. Glad I ordered this”
