About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Well made and a good solid construction. The board enables the pieces to be stored within the case. But I leave the board set up at all times on the table.”

“Felt let down by the product as when playing the board does not lay flat. The centre rises slightly making the pieces not able to sit correctly on the space. Otherwise a good travel set, nice looking.”

“Like a few others have said, mine arrived nicely packaged but as soon as I unwrapped it it appeared all scratched up. Very poor quality finish. Ill probably resand and varnish it myself to try and make it presentable.”

“Nice size board plus chess pieces, not too big or small. Comfortable to play. Like that pieces are stored within folding board. Wooden pieces, not magnetic so would have to be stationary to play game.”
