About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Amazing value for money, after reading a few of the reviews I was hesitant to buy this set. However upon opening Im over the moon. It did arrive with a tiny scratch on one corner, however the overall quality is really good, with beautifully carved pieces and a strong magnetic clasp. For just over 30 I think its a brilliant buy, highly recommend”

“Beautiful wooden chess set bought as a birthday gift for my son who is just learning to play chess. Perfect for beginners, as well as something to treasure.I cannot fault this product, but I only gave 4 stars for the travel aspect as its too nice to take away...Id want to find something less special for travel purposes!”

“I bought this set a year ago. I felt bad that I hadnt left a review because the quality and attention to detail is excellent.The set is beautifully packaged and both the board and pieces are well made. This is the second Jacques London game I have bought and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another.We also have Shut the box which is of consistently great quality.”
