“Very nice set for the money. Lighter than it looks because the wood is thin but complaints about materials are unrealistic at the price. My six year old loves it. The odd quality control issue with the pieces a couple wobble as something underneath the felt on the base protrudes below the rim, and the queens crowns and bishops mitres could be better defined but on the whole good value. Nice box and card. The ruleshistory inlay is another nice touch, but the section on the en passant rule could do with a recast for clarity if I didnt know the rule already I think I would be none the wiser for reading it.”
“Yes, the chessboard is well wrapped and presented, but that was it!The figures were made of inferior quality of wood and some not even sitting straight on the board as the bottom of the figures is not straight. The board itself also has unexpectedly poor quality and the emery is not well finished as seen in the pictures I took. In addition, it had some wooden laths hanging out on both edges that can hurt your skin.Do not go for this product! Save your money, the returnback effort and the wasted CO2 for nothing in return!”
“Good product. Wood smell. Good box presentation, etc. Ideal for gift. Board and pieces with some imperfections. You can see that it is very handmade, which is the good thing, on the other hand, in terms of price, I thought that they would have better finishes. In short, it meets my expectations, but dont expect the quality of an 80 or 100 board”
“Lovely packaging but unfortunately not as great a product. Lots of talk of hand made craftsmanship but the lines and squares are way off when the board folds out. Its useable for my 10 yr old son but disappointing given all the companies heritage”
“I am afraid that behind the luxurious packagIng and superior description of the product there is actually 2nd or 3rd grade quality product you are getting. I am afraid that there are too many imperfections covered by the mentioned lacquer plus the board when open and laid on a table does not close, one edge is chipped etc. These tough times and the disappointment of my little boy if returned are the only reasons are keeping it.”
“The two halves of the set do not align when opened and on some of the pieces the bases are not flat, making them easy to knock over. Also pieces are very light.”
