About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. Why not come along for the trip with us!

The set is good looking and well made but there are a couple of pieces that have cracks they should have been rejected. I am sending a picture of the piece which has crack.

Felt bases uneven so pieces fall over and the board doesnt line up accurately

Im trying to decide if the crooked bored and irregularity in the pieces is quaint quirky or poor quality. I think its a decent chess set for 20, not 30.

The board is very well made, but the pieces are poor not crafted skillfully, the felt on the bottom of them must have been slapped on plus not glued on properly so the pieces sat at all angles.

The game itself is fine. Unfortunately they dont take care of the details. The packaging is very good, but the content leaves a lot to be desired. Board with some scratches, pieces with imperfections and so on and on.
