About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “The two halves of the set do not align when opened and on some of the pieces the bases are not flat, making them easy to knock over. Also pieces are very light.”

“Love this set!I am so glad that I didnt give in and purchase a cheaper board.This set is just pure class.The board itself is lovely to move around on and supplies a nice satisfying sound when done so.Everything about it is nice, nicely wrapped with a note inside and done with class.This will be something to hand down too.”

“Not the quality I was expecting. Beautiful packing but the product is scratched at several places. The pieces are not flat from the bottom and hence a bit wobbly on standing. Too expensive for the quality of product received.”
