“The first impression was very good. The packaging looked high quality and very beautiful. It was a Christmas present and so I was surprised at what was actually hidden inside. I have to say, I was very disappointed. The workmanship looks anything but high quality and the first scratches appeared almost immediately on the surface. I was also expecting some kind of closure that would securely close the game when it was folded up. But there was no such thing. The priceperformance ratio is not right. “The figures are carved relatively roughly. The workmanship of the board was only satisfactory after the third order. But I will paint over it again. However, the alternative products I ordered in this price range were not convincing either.”
“Its the second chess Ive ordered. I changed the first one to have a hit on a square on the board and be marked in a couple of places as if something had been dragged. The second one arrived today with several defects in the varnish, impurities in a couple of squares and with a couple of stains on the board. It also had loose pieces as if it had been used although it came packaged in its plastic. Inside, the lining where the pieces are, also leaves something to be desired, poorly glued. The pieces weigh little, are small compared to the box and also have defects. The boxes dont quite add up. I bought the chess trusting in the support of the brand and the years behind it, but the truth is that it disappointed me a little in this regard. The chess is beautiful, it is well presented, handmade and for the price it would be fine if it did not have these flaws and the pieces were more plumb. It was a gift from the Kings for my daughter and Im thinking about returning it and opting for another brand but I dont know how my 5yearold daughter would take it when she sees that the Kings chess is not the same model. Additionally, they should have more options in the products. You cannot go from a chess set for 35 to pieces without a board for approximately 150. If there had been something with an intermediate price, larger pieces no. 5 or no. 6 and better finish, I would have bought it but there is none on their website. Its a shame that a brand with so much prestige and that patented the format of the pieces has these errors and does not check the products before they are packaged. Update after changing it a couple of times I wrote to the brand and they took care of it themselves. make the change. All right!!”
“We ordered the board for our son, so far it looks good for the price and the wooden figures are well made! It has highquality packaging, wonderful if it is a gift! The figures are in the folded board with a rubber band to hold them in place! I think thats great because the figures dont lie around randomly and therefore stay nice for a long time! Unfortunately ours had a scratch, I dont want to send it back and order a new one! Delivery was very quick!”
“Handmade, yes, but in China. You get a product here that absolutely does not live up to its claim. The manufacturer advertises its long tradition, with British nobility, but only the packaging does justice to that. The board is slightly scratched and made of the cheapest wood. The same applies to the figures, which weigh nothing and are not cleanly made. Playing is no fun because the feel is simply bad. I am not sending it back because it is now being used as travel chess, but it is a real sham.”
