About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Ik heb het product geretourneerd.Het spel is mooi gemaakt en uitgevoerd daar ligt t niet aan. Ook de verpakking waarin het wordt bezorgd is erg mooi strik eromheen. Top! Heeft Jacques goed gedaan! Maar ... de stukken zijn te licht en blijven niet makkelijk staan op het bord. De ruimte tussen de stukken is klein en maakt dat ze direct omvallen als je een zet doet. Erg jammer maar helaas!RS FEB 20”

“Externally, the packaging of the chessboard makes a very highquality impression great, antiquestyle packaging design, greeting card included, etc. Unfortunately, on my sons birthday, there was a big disappointment the chessboard already had three large scratches and some of the pieces were so poorly made that they could hardly stand on the board. It was all the more unfortunate that the return period had already expired... Conclusion more show than substance. You can play chess with it, but in the future more emphasis should be placed on the quality of the contents than on the packaging.”

“Item was delivered quickly, condition as expected good but not particularly high quality corresponding to the price. Packaging in a nice box, good for giving as a gift. BUT Additionally wrapped in 2 ! plastic films and still in the Amazon Cardboard. That means a wooden chessboard in a total of 2 sheets of foil and 2 boxes. And that in times of microplastics and plastic waste in the oceans... what a pity!”
