About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Figures feel extremely cheap and light. The look isnt that bad, but as soon as you hold it in your hand you immediately realize their low extremely quality. Board is also very light. Regret of buying, would rather opt for a chinese metallic competitor.”

“I was surprised how well it was wrappedpacked. The elastic band holding the pieces together at the back of the board makes sense, though its a bit too weak to keep the pieces nice and tight. While transporting it in my car some of them fell out.In my case, one half doesnt quite fit the other as you can see on my photo.Its a decent chessgame although nothing special.”

“Ik heb het product geretourneerd.Het spel is mooi gemaakt en uitgevoerd daar ligt t niet aan. Ook de verpakking waarin het wordt bezorgd is erg mooi strik eromheen. Top! Heeft Jacques goed gedaan! Maar ... de stukken zijn te licht en blijven niet makkelijk staan op het bord. De ruimte tussen de stukken is klein en maakt dat ze direct omvallen als je een zet doet. Erg jammer maar helaas!RS FEB 20”
