About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “The packaging was better than the product. Scratches on almost every side of the board which alot of other reviews also confirmed. Was hoping this wasnt the case but there you are. The last thing a customer should worry about after the high acclaim they give themselves.”

“I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and after opening it Christmas day, and playing a couple of games I noticed what looked like glue marks and imperfections on the board. I was a bit unhappy, while its not the most expensive chess set it its made by a really good manufacturer who have a long history with chess sets. Their customer service has been second to none and Ive now got a replacement on the way.Other than that, the chess set is amazing and I like the fact that the pieces are competition pieces.”
