“Whilst it isnt exactly expensive at 30 for the 15 board, it does feel cheap for the money. The set is well presented but the pieces are as light as a feather and the board doesnt sit flush when opened because of the hinge.I see a lot of 5 star reviews here from people who have bought the item as a gift. If you actually had to use the set for its intended purpose you might think differently about it.If I could be bothered sending it back I would.”
“Unfortunately, this second order also had to be returned because there were serious defects just like the first order of the item, which also had to be returned. The design and packaging are impressive, as are the figures, which are very well made and give a highquality impression. In my personal opinion, this item should not necessarily be offered as a quality item. However, the price is reasonable. If you can and want to overlook such defects, I would recommend buying it. I would advise everyone else who cares about workmanship and quality not to buy it.”
“The chess set has cosmetic damage to the board, a fairly large and deep scratch. The lacquer applied to the pieces is also starting to come off as its soft as though it hasnt set yet.The edges of the board dont line up correctly when unfolded. Not very impressed for 30”
“This is a cheap chess set . The pieces are poorly formed and are too easy to knock over.It is not an elegant set.The case, box and presentation are excellent. Shame a little bit more effort could have been spent on the pieces.”
“A bit disappointed with this chess set and was expecting more. The pieces are very light and fall over too easily. The board looks nice but is out of joint. All in all, had I tried before buying this is not one I would have chosen given the big name in chess that Jaques gives themselves.”
“Great service and value for a very good product delivered on time. The lost star the elastic holding the chess pieces is too slack to hold them in place .They fall into box which is disappointing.Assume it is possible to rectify this?Ideas please. Ernie Finch”
