About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “A bit disappointed with this. I had a similar set as a child and had beenn loking for something similar for a long time. In the set i remember the pieces were held firmly in the holes and effectively you could put the pieces in put the lid on and carry the set around ready for a new game. In the current version the "plugs" rattle around in thewholes and are very easy to accidentally knock out. (particularly annoying when playing a game) . The figures are also not that well diferentiated, particlualy the pawns and bishops. I would happily pay more money for a better quality product”

“This was for a gift for a colleague who was leaving so I didn't unpack it but had nice packaging. Unfortunately it arrived a day later than expected as Amazon Shipping delivered it to another company on our industrial estate even though it had the correct name and address on the parcel.”
