About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. Why not come along for the trip with us!

It's a lovely well-made set; it reminds me of one I owned donkey's years ago and I wanted a similar one for my granddaughter.

The pins on the bottom of the pieces are too small for the holes so they serve no purpose at all. Better off buying a mini magnetic board. You will lose the pieces to this one very quickly, especially if you travel with it.

The chess board itself is beautiful . But the pieces do not slot in and stay in, they are wobbly and fall out which means you are unable to play in the car.
