Baby Chicks: Blue/Black Favaucana Female Reviews

4.6 Rating 124 Reviews
I splurged and got a Blue Fav girl with my last order born July 24. Out of those 5 I had 3 bantams, an Easter Egger and my Fav (who I named Blueberry. Yeah, I know, not very original). The bantams (D'Uccle and 2 Brahmas) were the most tame and friendly. The Egger was the least. Blueberry was *very* scared and skittish for the first month and a half. The only way she would go near me without terror was if I gave her mealworms, which she loves. Interestingly, she has 5 toes on one foot and 4 on the other! She is beautiful, and looks similar to the pullet in MPC's picture. I have been working with her intensely, lots of treats and contact. Over the last two weeks she's become markedly friendlier to me. She runs up to me with the others when I come with treats, and lets me hold her on my lap and pet her. She is so soft and unique looking; she looks like some kind of exotic blue hawk. Yesterday she actually flew up into my lap when I was sitting at the run with a container of treats! None of my 14 chickens have ever done that before. I love my Blueberry and I'm so glad I got her. She is worth the extra money and time spent. :)

I absolutely love these babies! I purchased 3 Blue Favaucana's in June and they are thriving. They are almost 10 weeks old and they are still a bit scared of me but i'm working on hand feeding them treats and picking them up after they have gone to bed at night to get them used to me holding them. Otherwise i can't even come close to catching them... i have 3 Golden Comets that i got from a local farm back in the spring that i will be introducing them to at the beginning of October. I've started by having my older ladies eating treats outside of the babies run while i treat the babies at the same time. So far so good. These babies are also so beautiful! I have 2 blues and one black. The 2 blues have darker heads but in different patterns and the lace on the feathers is starting to come in. I'm interested to see how the black baby progresses with coloring. I love these birds and if i ever expand from my current 6 i will definitely come back here for birds. Thank you so much!

We have 3 Favacanas named Fern, Meadow, and Clover (Named after their GREEN eggs). Clover starts sqwaking loudly everytime I come to the run; telling me all the chicken gossip! She's so friendly, and her coloring was a true SURPRISE! Her blue gene turned out to be diluted. She is so pale that she is LAVENDER! Her cute beard & muff is the largest of all the muffed hens I have (9 muffed out of my 18 mixed flock hens)! Thank you for this gorgeous girl!

We got 2 Favaucanas with our group of 10. We have an incredibly compatible flock, and the Favuacanas fit in very well and actually seem to be towards the higher end of the flock in terms of pecking order. The two Favuacanas looked quite different as chicks (one black and one blue) but both grew to be almost identical bliue. One just has shades of copper around her neck. Contrary to some other reviews, ours are both very confident, calm and friendly. I'm not sure if this is in part because the flock leaders are two exceptionally friendly Easter Eggers, or if we just got great Favaucanas. They are super pretty too, and lay small to medium sage green eggs.

I ordered 5 chicks from you in June 2017 (Favaucana, Easter Egger, Golden Comet, Barred Rock, & Buff Orpington). All have been healthy, strong, cute, and good-natured. My best of personalities are the comet and the BR, then the Buff Orpington and then the Fauvaucana and Easter Egger. The cutest of the bunch are the Fauvaucana and the Easter Egger. These are also more flighty than the others with the Easter Egger being the worst. The Fauvaucana has mellowed more though since I've had her as is the all time cutest thing I've seen with her feathered legs and fluffy cheeks. She is also interesting in that she does fit in with the group but sometimes does her own thing when everyone else is doing something together. I am pleased with this bunch overall and would buy again from My Pet Chicken.

I'll admit that as a small baby chick she kind of just blended in with the flock and didn't stand out much amongst the silkie and polish babies. But now at 7 weeks old she is absolutely gorgeous. Her cheeks have grown out and she is a stunning girl. We named her Olive and she is a lovely addition to our flock. I've very happy.

We got two of these gorgeous girls in our shipment this year, and they are every bit as beautiful as I'd hoped and more! They haven't started laying yet because they're too young at only 9 weeks, but they are awesome! Very adventurous and curious, and very playful! I am so glad we were able to get a couple this year!
