Baby Chicks: Blue/Black Favaucana Female Reviews

4.6 Rating 124 Reviews
I only have one, and every personality is different, but Felicia is skittish and acts like I'm trying to kill her if I just walk into the coop. She is absolutely GORGEOUS. I just love that hawk look, so it pains me that she doesn't care to be anywhere near me. Maybe it will change, she's only 12 weeks. Still, I wouldn't trade her and am looking forward to having eggs from her.

Favaucanas as well as the different easter eggers are my favorite of all! They're friendly and sweet and keep laying all through the winter. They are slightly antisocial with the rest of the girls, but always come running when I visit the coop. Love the gorgeous green eggs and blue feathering.

I ordered my girls in April 2017! They are everything I expected and more. They are very sweet and the one named Pearl, when I come out my back door she starts calling for me. I walk around the yard with her like a puppy. Needless to say she is the leader and very light colored. No eggs yet they are not old enough but I am so looking forward to that day! We are thinking about adding Silkies.

We purchased 2 Blue Favaucana's for our flock of 15 hens. They are lovely birds with funny little beards/sideburns and very friendly personalities. They were the first in our flock to lay. The eggs are a soft olive color and they are currently laying nearly everyday. I will say, they are quite loud compared to the other birds. They always have a lot to say when anyone approaches the run. We live in an urban area, so we probably won't purchase them again out of respect to our neighbors. However, if you live in a more rural setting, these ladies would make great alarms! There is no sneaking up on them! That being said, the neighbors (50 feet away) didn't even know we had chickens until we told them. Favaucanas are defintely louder than my other birds, but lovely and very friendly!
