Baby Chicks: Blue Splash Marans Female Reviews

4.7 Rating 211 Reviews
All of our 8 chics were healthy. All 8 are still alive and well although our bountiful blue egg layer turned out to be a rooster (whomp whomp) BUT this chicken! Our splash Maran is my absolute favorite! Her name is Dottie and she is the sweetest most loving chicken! She is beautiful and always wants to be held and loved! I just love her and I always say I wish I had a whole coop full of Dotties.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review, Bobbie! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that Dottie has become your favorite! Her loving nature and sweet personality truly shine, and it's wonderful to know that she brings so much joy to your life. We share your wish for a whole coop full of wonderful Dotties! We are so sorry for the sexing error on your Bountiful Blue Egg Layer! Thank you for letting us know. I do see that we have issued you a refund for the chick. Again, we are so sorry! Wishing you and your flock all the best!

This colofring is turning out to be my favorite. She is also a spunky, strong, self assured little bird. I’m becoming a fan of Marans.

My favorite chicken, she's so beautiful and calm, looks like a watercolor painting! I definitely want more of these special hens.

I got two Blue Splash Marans. They are starting to look like the adults. One is shy but friendly. They other is an attention seeking ham (see photo) She lounges and likes belly scratches. While the others run about, she is happy to dig holes, stretch out and be hand fed. I am looking forward to spotted eggs! I purchased 8 chicks. They arrived healthy (a day later than promised by the post office - but the post office very kindly called me and let me pick them up at 6:30 AM the following day when they arrived). All chicks appeared healthy. When I put them into their brooder box, they slowly became active, eating and drinking - except two that just stood still. I tried dipping their beaks in water, but no interest. After 30 minutes, they were still not moving around so I made sugar water and put some into a tiny spoon and kept lifting that to their beaks - after 3-4 dips they each took a swallow - all good from then on! After a few sips they started to walk around and within minutes were as lively as the rest! Healthy ever since! It seems that little sugar after a long ride in a box works wonders! NOTE: She is FINE in this picture - just kicked back and waiting to be served food.
