“The first 3 we ordered all passed at different stages. From 2 days old to 4 months old. BUT I love this breed. I ordered 3 more a couple of months later and they are good. I kept on trying because these are the friendliest chickens I have ever had. And beautiful birds that come running to me to be held!! 15 years of chickens and first time. Reading the comments on child death makes me think maybe not a hardy breeed till you get them to 6 months? But I will always have some in my flock ❤️”
Blue Splash Marans are absolultely gorgeous birds known to be hardy, calm and quiet. They also tolerate confinement well if a flock keepers chooses to not allow free ranging. We do not believe they are more prone to weakness as young pullets or cockerels but always keep an eye out for any trends so we appreciate your letting us know your observation as an experience flock keeper.
