Baby Chicks: Green Queen Easter Egger Female Reviews

4.5 Rating 174 Reviews
I ordered an easter egger and two green queen females and they hatched 5/9/22. One of the three was mis-sexed and established himself as a roo early on; MPC made it right and refunded me (for the EE because it was more expensive - we couldn't actually tell which was which). One of the other two - clearly a silkie cross - started laying this week (23 weeks to the day). In 7 days she's laid 5 perfect eggs, and that's great! At first I was disappointed - her first two eggs were white (was wanting green, obviously). Eggs 3-5 have been getting progressively more pink, which i'm thrilled about. I've never had a pink layer, and these eggs are quite pink and getting more saturated each lay. Yay! 4 stars because she's super flighty and doesn't lay green eggs, which I think is a fair expectation when ordering a green queen. That said, I'm excited to have pink eggs and a cute silkie cross.

Ordered 1 Green Queen in April 2021 along with 4 other chicks. 'Duck' has been a great bird, she is the largest and the lead hen colored like a Light Brahma or Columbian Wyandotte with feet feathers. Lays about 5-6 light green eggs per week and is very docile but doesn't like to be held. Sounds like there can be a lot of variation in breed look with these birds but we have been very happy with her.

The birds themselves were healthy. Ordered spring 2021 and writing review august 2022. Order for GREEN eggs, and lots of them. Well… out of three chickens, one lays green eggs. We weigh it every time she lays one and it’s never been above a small. One lays a large light brown/pale egg, and I have yet to figure out the third, but definitely not green as there are no other green eggs. When they aren’t broody, they do lay almost every day. Mostly they are broody. They all three made excellent mothers. They return to laying for about two weeks and then go broody again. Two are very nice birds. They except chicks from other birds as their own as well. But I wanted green eggs… big enough to sell, eat, use in recipes… and that I did not get.

Our green egger pullet died suddenly after 5 weeks with us. She was active and seemed normal one day and gone the next. We have now lost 3/6 pullets we ordered this summer. We are so disappointed and can’t figure out why this is happening.

Our green egger is too young to lay yet so I can’t comment on her egg color, but she is very friendly and a beautiful shiny black color with a greenish iridescence to her feathers.

I ordered two green queen Easter eggers in March 2022. One ended up being a rooster so he went to a new home and the other is definitely a hen but she does not lay green or blue eggs. They are pinkish tan. She’s also very flighty and skittish and loud. Only giving three stars because she arrived healthy and is very cute and we do love her despite her quirks. Will definitely not purchase this breed again though.

We got Elvira in the spring of 2020. She is absolutely gorgeous. All black with beetle sheen feathers and fluffy cheeks she always has grass stuck in lol. Unfortunately, she has never laid an egg, green or otherwise. We don't mind because when you're this beautiful, you don't have to work for a living. I would be willing to order another Green Queen in the future.
