“I ordered two green queens because I was feeling lucky. Since I bought two, I figured that surely at least one would lay a green egg, despite knowing the majority of reviews said they lay a boring cream/light brown egg. I also thought the odds were in my favor since usually it's just the not so happy ones that come back and review, meaning if they laid a green you likely didn't come back and say so. Well surprise, surprise- both lay a boring light brown egg. One is all black with ear tufts, the other is all grey with ear tufts and even one foot has five toes! The grey one is sweet and friendly, the black is a beastly little girl. If you're going for green, I think you better grab some easter Eggers or olive Eggers!”
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We’re thrilled to hear that your gray Green Queen is such a sweet and special addition to your flock - she sounds like a real character! At the same time, we completely understand the disappointment when the egg color isn’t what you were hoping for, especially after thoughtfully selecting a breed known for its beautiful green eggs.
Our Green Queen Easter Eggers are bred to lay a wide range of stunning egg colors, including the coveted green, and most do. However, because of their unique hybrid genetics - similar to other designer layers like Olive Eggers - there can occasionally be variation in the final shade. We're truly sorry if your girls fall into that rare exception.
“My two little ones had some challenges almost immediately, but they arrived initially strong and ready to go. My Pet Chicken has been involved, and I would eagerly order more of this breed in the future”
“I received my chicks on April 1 and had 3 Green Queen Easter Eggers in the mix. I got two girls and a rooster. They are now 4 months old but I did lose one of the girls. The rooster is Mr. Frank and is crowing and hassling the girls but he seems laid back. He avoids my older hens. The little flock of 9 youngsters stay together and he is very proud. They all have wonderful personalities and are getting along with the older hens.”
Thank you for sharing your delightful experience with the Green Queen Easter Eggers! We're sorry to hear about the loss of one of your girls, but it sounds like Mr. Frank is stepping up beautifully as a proud rooster! It's wonderful to know that the rest of your flock is getting along and showing such unique personalities. We appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy watching them grow together!
“UPDATE: My Green Queen is no longer skittish! She was the first (and only, so far, at 26 wks) one to lay (along with a Green Queen bantam and Black Ameraucana), with her olive eggs sometimes speckled and beautiful. She is actually very vocal, but I love it, as it seems to help both her and her sisters deal with the two older, semi-bully members of my original flock. I love her!
My Green Queen just turned 12 weeks old, and she is an absolute beauty with muffs and a fluffy headdress like a Cream Legbar. She can be a little skittish, but she is sweet and friendly. Highly recommend.”
Thank you so much for the kind words and the adorable photo! Your Green Queen sounds absolutely stunning—we love hearing about those fluffy headdresses and muffs! It’s completely normal for them to be a bit skittish at first but it’s wonderful to hear she’s still sweet and friendly. With time and gentle handling, we’re sure she’ll become even more confident. Thanks again for sharing and for giving her such a great home!
“I love my Green Queen! She's about 7 weeks old now and so beautiful and friendly! She has the adorable cheek muffs, and her color is so beautiful, a light gray/dark gray/tan mixture. So glad she is part of the flock, she mixes right in with the other pullets her age, and has such a sweet personality!”
We love hearing about the Green Queens! We're thrilled to hear that she's fitting right in with the flock and bringing charm and cheeks to your backyard. Since every Green Queen is different in appearance, it's always fun to hear how they look! Thank you for the review and we hope you have many productive years with her!
“I got two green queens and they are both so different but very fun! They’re not as calm as some of my other chickens, but are very fun to sit and watch. One is black and one is brown, both kind of crazy!”
