Your little ones are so adorable! Thank you for sharing your photo and how they are doing! We never tire of seeing and hearing about the babies are they grow!
“Cricket is a sweet but stand-off ish bird. She is all black aside from the tiniest bit of red plumage at her eyes & crown with a large red waddle & comb. She is silly and I would consider her my strangest bird. Wants to be in the mix but is more flighty than her flock mates. She is a bit of a spazz and often reacts to nonexistent threats causing her to trample the nearest members of the flock cause them to holler at any given moment lol. She’s the only chicken I have to corral when she needs to be examined-she’s a wild one for sure. She is much more agile than the rest of her flock and I’ve “lost” her on several occasions (still not sure of all the places she’s laying). I am giving her three stars only because her eggs are the dullest eggtraordinarily brown and I had high hopes for a green egger :( - with that being said, she is a wonderful producer and lays roughly 5 eggs a week.”
Cricket sounds adorable though she may be lower in the pecking order which may explain some of her behavior. If you can catch her while perhaps she is a bit sleepy after a dust bath, you can attempt to combat her instinct as a prey animal to know that she does not need to be afraid of you, her flock keeper. Treats can help you become better acquainted and carrying her around with you while you clean up their area or while you sit outside, gently petting and speaking softly often helps timid or flighty birds come around. Green Queen Easter Eggers may lay brown colored eggs as well as the green hues so many of us hope for and unfortunately, there is no way to determine which it will be until that first egg appears. If you want a better chance at a green egg, consider perhaps an Olive Egger in the future. Please let us know if you have questions any time. We are happy to help!
We appreciate you letting us know how your little ones are doing! You are so right that a little time and patience will usually have these cuties showing their more friendly side! Do not be above bribes with yummy treats! Please let us know if we can provide any guidance as we are always happy to help!
“Undoubtedly my best looking hen. She is in the middle of the pecking order and started laying at about 3.5 months. She is curious and slightly standoffish, she doesn't come close enough to be touched, but likes to be nearby people.”
These little Green Queens are often the beauties in the bunch for sure! Since she has Easter Egger genes in her makeup, she will surely be a friendly little one even if she is a bit shy and will do her part in providing you with wonderful eggs. Please let us know if we can ever answer any questions or help with your flock care needs. We always want to be there for our customers and their flocks.
“This was my first hatchery purchase as I usually purchase from local breeders. I was nervous - especially with shipping. But - there was not a thing to be nervous over. It was the easiest transaction ever.
The customer service is prompt and fantastic. I forgot to enter my email address on the order and therefore could not find it to track it- that was quickly addressed.
Shipping was very fast and accurate. My chicks arrived the next day - packed well - healthy - alert - and very very cute.
I also loved the variety of breeds available and being able to mix and match.
Would not hesitate to order again or to recommend to others looking to purchase chicks.”

“This is my favorite chick out of the ones I ordered. She is so sweet and friendly, will climb right into my hand to come see me. I can't wait to see her all feathered out, but her baby down is like black velvet, and she is so cute!”
Shhh! We won't tell the others that you have a favorite! These little ones do often quickly capture a flock keeper's heart so we completely understand how you feel. Thank you for sharing her beautiful photo and we hope for many years of happiness with her and her flock mates!
