“My girl (whom my four-year-old named Chick Chick America) lays gorgeous L/XL soft olive green eggs which make my egg basket look like something from a bed and breakfast in the French countryside. It's magical. She has unusual coloring for an OE: wheaten plumage offset with white wingtips. I will definitely get more in the future.”
Thank you for sharing such a colorful and magical update! Olive Egger females are truly lovely and each bird is unique. It sounds like Chick Chick America is winning your heart and elevating your egg basket! We’re thrilled you’re happy with the breed and we thank you for supporting our small family business.
“My olive egger is small bodied and very active. She is also very flighty and easily spooked. She is a good layer but unfortunately she lays brown eggs.”
Thank you for the review of the Olive Egger chick in your flock; we are so sorry to hear that your girl is a bit flighty. She is still quite young and this may diminish as she matures as most Olive Eggers are very friendly! We are sending you a private message in regard to the egg color!
“We got 2 olive egger chicks in May, healthy. Arrived in one day to California. 22 weeks old now and we just got our first egg…a beautiful army green with speckles! It’s not letting me attach a picture but it is beautiful. Their personalities are fun too, both of the olive eggers I got are chatty. One loves to sit on my lap and chat and the other (hen) loves to round up the crew for bed and she will let them know if they are not listening to her. One has a cutest crest on her head and feathered feet. They were both yellow as chicks and now a red brown color.”
Thank you so much for the beautiful photos of your chatty Olive Eggers; it is so adorable to think of them just sitting there having a little chicken conversation on your lap! That is a beautiful olive egg and quite large for a first one, too. Isn't it amazing how they are one color on arrival and then totally change? One of Nature's finest tricks!
Thank you, Amanda for the kind words. We are terribly sorry that you lost a chick in shipping but as you know, we do absolutely cover them. As flockowners ourselves, we understand how heartbreaking it is to lose one and we are glad that we could help you promptly. We hope the others are thriving and getting big!
