“Everyone who sees her just instantly falls in love with her. Not overly friendly but she is just so adorable. She is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order but they don‚Äôt really bother her since she does her own thing. Lays a bluish green egg.”
“I got a neat fluffy white girl with lightly feathered legs, black skin, and blue earlobes. She just started laying and lays a slightly green egg (not as blue as the ameaurcana or cream legbar). Her eggs are medium-large like my other standard girls. She's not very friendly, and can't fly like the other girls, but she's at the top of the pecking order and no one bothers her in my mixed flock. I would get another one and hope the next one is friendlier. I like the idea of having a larger silkie that doesn't have as many feathers on their feet or in their eyes.”
“I purchased my chicks in Nov 19. Shipment went out right on time, as expected and all chicks arrived healthy & peeping away.
We ordered ten various breeds of hens, one of which is a Silked White Easter Egger we named Phyllis (10 hens & one Black Copper Maran Rooster).
Phyllis is a sweet heart and a very pretty silkie hen. She is very personable & friendly, although you can accidently freak her out occasionally because she doesn't always see you coming. Like most of the other girls, she comes running every time I go out, follows us all around the yard & generally likes to get attention and be held. However, because she's sweet & a little more submissive than the others, she does tend to get pick on some and is on the lower end of the pecking order.
She also loves to free range & is a very good forager.
As for eggs, she was a little later than the other ladies to start laying but, she does lay a pretty, smaller, light blue tinted egg 4-5 times a week. Which I think is great.
She will easily go broody though & is a great Momma, if that's what you decide to do.
Recently, I went out of town for a few days and had someone checking on the chickens, to make sure their food & water didn't get messed up, but the girls went a few of days without having their eggs collected. So, Lizzy, my super blue & Phyllis, my Silkie White Easter Egger, decided they would go broody & were determined to sit & hatch all the eggs, when I got home. So determined, that I decided to let them go ahead & try. So, as of last week, I have 15 little fluff balls peeping away & skirting all around the run. They're an assortment of all the other girls eggs (with the help of Roscoe, the Black Copper Maran rooster, of course), so there's a little bit of everything running around out there now. At any rate, both Lizzy & Phyllis are excellent mommas, very doting with the babies. Funny to watch them show the babies where to get food, water, scratch, etc..., basically how to be chickens. The two mommas seem to share custody, though, as they're all in together & I can't figure out who hatched who, lol.
Anyway, I do really like our Phyllis & would recommend the Silked White Easter Egger. They are beautiful girls and a definite conversation starter any time someone comes to visit.
I also highly recommend My Pet Chicken. They delivered my order exactly as promised, when it was promised & kept me advised along the way - no surprises. Great company.”
“My most recent order included three Silked White Easter Eggers. We are THRILLED with them! We‚Äôve never had much luck with silkies. Other hatcheries‚Äô unsexed chicks always turned out to be mean little roosters. And MPC bantam silkies, were never available, or under-hatched when I was able to order them.
This new breed is PERFECT. The hens are slightly smaller than standard hens but large enough to integrate into our standard flock. All three are silked, two have muffs, beards, and crests; the third has only a muff and a beard ‚Äì so next to her sisters, she looks like she lost her fur hat! Anyhow, they are sweet and friendly birds, all laying gorgeous blue-tinted eggs. This is our new favorite breed ‚Äì excellent work MPC!”
“Ordered our little Pickles and got her mid Oct. Not sure if the ones being sold now are all going to have the silkie feathers since the description says 100%? Anyways when I ordered it said 50% chance, and we got lucky! She is adorable and then today she dropped her first big light blue egg in front of me, almost like an accident haha. Really excited that it is all blue with no green tint, I love the green ones too of course but it is hard to find a layer that is all blue so this is cool. It is beautiful and so is she, wish we could add pics to the reviews!”
“I ordered one of these girls this last spring, she is a smooth feather with a cute little crown. She is my friendliest girl after the silkies. She was my earliest layer and gives a beautiful pale mint green egg. She did go broody within 2 months of laying so if you are looking to have a momma hatch some eggs at some point this is a good breed for you!”
“I wasn‚Äôt sure about this girl but I have a diverse, unique flock. She certainly fits the bill. The cutest chick ever and is growing into an adorable hen. She‚Äôs not overly friendly but seems to enjoy love when we pick her up. She‚Äôs too young yet to lay eggs so I can‚Äôt speak to that. This is the softest chicken I‚Äôve ever felt! I‚Äôve never had silkies but I just love to pet her. Her all black skin and crazy white feathers make me smile daily. Oh, and her name is Fancy. It just had to be.”
“We got our 5 chicks less then 24hrs after I was given my notification of them being shipped. All chicks are lively and healthy! They‚Äôre also gorgeous! I can‚Äôt wait to see what they end up looking like. I have one extra fluffy one that is whiter than the others and I have one extra NOT fluffy one that has more of a tan overlay. I‚Äôm curious to what the differences will be! Very impressed and will definitely be shopping from MPC again!”
