Baby Chicks: Silked White Easter Eggers Female Reviews

4.5 Rating 151 Reviews
She is by far the sweetest in the flock but we too got a feathered hen and unfortunately she’s laying pink eggs...we got her for her egg color so it’s a bit of a disappointment but she’s by far my favorite hen with the most docile personality!

We got this sweet girl in 4/2019. I chose her because she was different from my mixed and established flock. She started laying blue-green eggs at 18 weeks and lays 5-6 per week. She’s a small bird but very sweet and stands up to the “big girls”. She often takes a break from free ranging to cuddle. She quickly became my favorite!

My silked white EE is about 11 weeks and so far looks just like a white Sultan but with black skin and beak. Smooth feathers, crest, muffs, feathered legs and feet. She's beautiful.

As a new flock owner I was very nervous about choosing which breeds to go with. I ended up choosing 1 lavender Orpington, 1 silked Easter egger, 1 golden laced Wyandotte, 1 silver laced Wyandotte, and ordered a $1 cockerel. I asked for a cool breed of cockerel and I ended up with a lavender Orpington! I ordered in March and received them quickly. They arrived all in perfect health but a little nervous as I am sure the trip was scary! I did loads of research to make sure I had the perfect set up. I ordered the 6 week old pullets because I wanted a jump start and I didn’t plan on making them “pet chickens.” However, they are all my little pets, even the rooster. They just started laying eggs two weeks ago and everyone from my flock is doing great! My silked Easter egger hasn’t laid yet, but she is just the cutest little chicken. Her personality is just amazing and she loves to be cuddled. She’s more calm and approachable than the others. I would totally recommend having one in a flock because they are just so darn funny to look at! She seriously looks like something from a Dr. Seus book! Fluffy head fluffy feet but with Easter egger feathers. Anyways, I am so pleased with the quality of chickens I received from my pet chicken. I would order again, but the whole quarantine process seems to be a bit daunting. My flock is now completely free range (we have about 10 acres) and they are the happiest birds.

I ordered four female hoping for a silkie. I have one gorgeous silkie, Princess, she has greenish blackish skin, (a top hat) crest and she is so pretty and sweet and I am keeping another one that has back skin, large black eyes and gorgeous smooth feathers brilliantly white and interesting shape of them, she is a doll and very sweet too, Pearl (Black Pearl) I sold the other (smooth feathered) two to a great home and got $$ for them so color me happy. This is really a great breed.

We absolutely love our Silked EE. She has green skin, a crest, feathered feet and smooth feathers. She is the sweetest out of the 19 checks we purchased. I have a question, if we breed her with a non Silkie rooster is there a possibility of getting any silked chicks or would they all be smooth feathered?
