“We ordered 4 different breed chicks from My Pet Chicken. Angel is our silked white Easter Egger and we absolutely love her. She is now about 6 weeks old. She is very sweet.... my four year old has loved holding her since day one as she will settle happily in her arms. She is feathering in smooth with beautiful foot/leg feathers. Though not silked like a Silkie, she really is beautiful. Looking forward to her laying days ahead!”
“I ordered one (out of a large variety) silked white easter egger. I didn't really care as to what she looked like, I was more interested in the egg color. She hasn't started laying yet but she is very silky! I am now thinking of adding more to the flock. She is skittish, but I'm hoping I can change that with some bribes and treats :)”
“I ordered 6 pullets and all 6 are very bright, calm and active chicks. 2 have black skin, one is crested and most have muffs. They look like easter eggers more than silky chicks other than the one crested who has black skin also. I loved the idea of a regular sized blue layer with silked feathers! Sadly all 6 of them are feathering in with smooth feathers and not silked. In reading other reviews it looks like it might not be an actual 50% chance of being silked, Was hoping for one or possibly two out of 6 for the high price tag on them but do know it was a gamble. Hopefully others are receiving better odds or breeding program might have to be adjusted to be advertised as it is. Still love My Pet Chicken and their wonderful customer service!”
“Out of the 9 breeds I ordered I just had to have a silked EE. Since there is so much variety in their appearance I made sure to keep my expectations open for what she might look like. Her chick fluff had a bit of a rosy hue but her feathers are coming in white. She doesn't have a crest like a silky and it looks like she won't have silky feathers. She looks almost the same as our Snowy EE except she has 5 toes and one feather on one leg. That said I could not be happier with her. She is the healthiest bird of the bunch and my husband is always joking that she must have hatched a day before the others. She is developing the quickest and is always to the first to try something. Even though she is the boss chick, she isn't a bully. She is always encouraging the others to join her on a perch and lets the other chicks lay on her at night. She is also very friendly with us and likes to perch on my shoulder.”
“Very beautiful and sweet chicks. Unfortunately I think that out of the 6 I ordered at least 5 if not all 6 are smooth feathered. Kind of bummed about that. Also 1 appears to have 2 toes on each side webbed together. It doesn't appear to impede movement so far though. Other than that, Chicks are healthy and happy. Just kind of wished for more silked than I got though. Oh well.”
“I ordered 8 Easter Eggers and 7 out the 8 were fiesty, healthy and bright-eyed. One had a severe case of spraddle leg. I contacted My Pet Chicken and was refunded right away, along with tips on how to treat her spraddle leg. Despite my best efforts though, she did end up passing away. I understand this will happen. Thank you for all your help!”
“I ordered five Silkie Easter Egger pullets because I love the idea of a standard-sized silkie that lays blue eggs! That just checks all the boxes for me. They all arrived healthy, happy, and strong despite the cold temperatures. I'm glad I ordered five because as cross-breeds each one is a little different, and I think it's part of the fun seeing what you end up with. All of the chicks have pale yellow fuzz, and they're the same size as the other standard chicks in my order. Two of them look identical to white silkie chicks - they have the black skin and beak, puffy face, feathered legs, and five toes on each foot. The third chick looks exactly the same except she only has four toes per foot. The fourth and fifth chicks have yellow skin and beaks, but they have five toes like a silkie, and one of them has feathered legs. My only disappointment is that only one of the five is feathering in like a silkie. The other four appear to be smooth. I knew from the breed description that they would be a mix of silkie and smooth feathered chicks, and I actually love the smooth feathering on them (they look like little snowy owls!) but I was hoping for 2-3 silkie feathered birds out of the five. Oh well - that's just the luck of the draw!”
