Baby Chicks: Silked White Easter Eggers Female Reviews

4.5 Rating 151 Reviews
We purchased 3 female chicks and 2 passed away on day 5. We are not sure what the issues was. The remaining chick is still going strong but only 2 weeks old at this point. However, My Pet Chicken was great and honored their policy no questions asked and were very supportive and caring during the difficult time. We have other chickens from them that are laying and healthy at 3 years going strong!

First time checking out this exclusive breed. I’m excited to see how they grow and watch their personalities.

I ordered 5 chicks (two males three straight run). First red flag. They weren't marked. I had 5 chicks that all looked identical. Ok that's fine. I was going to keep them all anyway. One died within the week. These things happen. Another died two days later. I guess bad luck on my part. Not sure what happen, none of my silkies were dying (home bred) and they tend to be a more fragile breed. I gave a third away to my mum because it had very few silkie traits (light skin, 4 toes, pink comb/waddle, rather big, acted like a regular chicken lol). It's now 4 months later. I've got two healthy birds, not very silkie-like, they do have pigmented skin (lighter feet), only 4 toes, no beard, lighter comb/waddles, they look like tractor supply silkies (so I can work with that). Here's my issue. I did genetic testing and NEITHER of these birds have a single blue egg gene. The entire appeal of these birds are the colored eggs. Not even 1 blue gene out of 4 possible. So disappointing. I waited to test them because I assumed they were homozygous blue MAYBE heterozygous. I had NO doubts. Boy was I surprised to discover both had NO blue genes. I'm so disheartened.

Thank you for sharing your experience—we’re sorry this order hasn’t gone as expected. Silked White Easter Eggers are a hybrid breed, and while about 95% lay blue eggs, a small number may lay cream. Since your birds aren’t laying yet, we’re hopeful you’ll still get the blue eggs this breed is known for. Genetic testing can sometimes miss blue egg gene variants in hybrids, especially if samples degrade in transit. Ultimately, the eggs themselves will provide the clearest answer. Most of our customers with this breed are delighted with the blue eggs they get, and we’re hopeful you’ll have that same happy experience once your birds begin to lay. We’ve reached out directly to discuss this further and look forward to hearing back from you!

I ordered 9 babies 2 of which are Silked White Easter Eggers. All arrived lively and healthy. As a first time chicken person I received impeccable costumer service from mypetchicken. Literally every single person I spoke to was very professional, extremely sweet, patient with all my questions and super helpful! Babies are doing very well inside their brooder, are active and curious and we are so in love!!!

I was substituted with a silked easter egger as one of the breeds I ordered was actually not avaliable. I ordered 3 chicks that were different breeds. The silked easter egger was not a breed that Id consider purchasing, but since they agreed to adjust the price for the substitution I just waited to see what I would get. My chicks seemed fine upon arrival but 2 of the 3 died within 2 hrs of receiving them. The silked egger was the only one I had left. She was very scrawny and I wasnt sure she would make it, but she has survived so far. I am not satified with this rare breed as she is not a calm and sweet despite all the extra attention that we have give her. She has not grown much at all she is super tiny and still scrawny looking (very disappointing) and there is no way she will ever be able to go with my older hens which is the very reason that I ordered from my pet chicken again to add to my exsisting hens. I would really appreciate a refund or credit on the chick(s) as I have never had such a bad experience with chicks before especially the Silked easter egger chick. I have ordered from my pet chicken in the past and was very satified with the chick breeds and customer service. This silked easter egger may be a rare exclusive breed , but it is not at all worth the bad experience I have had with the order and this breed, There are many great calm and friendly breeds avaliable from this company and I have several of them, but this breed is not one of them unfortunately.

We’re so sorry to hear about your recent experience with My Pet Chicken. While we were glad to be able to offer the Silked White Easter Egger as a substitute for the breed that didn’t hatch well, we’re sorry to hear that she hasn’t been the addition to your flock you were hoping for. Hopefully, with a bit more time, she’ll continue to mature and grow into a better fit with your other girls. Most Silked White Easter Eggers are calm and sweet, but like any creatures with personalities, there can be exceptions.  It’s truly heartbreaking to hear that two of your chicks didn’t survive the trip. We didn’t receive a report within 48 hours of their arrival, which means they’re not fully covered under our Live Arrival Guarantee - but we still want to do what we can to help. Our team will be reaching out to you directly to follow up. Thank you for your past support and for sharing your feedback. We’re always working to improve and truly value your trust in us.

Sweet thing. Unfortnately, my girl came with severe curl toe. We've been trying to fix her feet, but have had no luck.

Thank you for your review and for giving this little one so much care and attention. We’re so sorry to hear she arrived with severe curled toes—it’s always difficult to see a chick start off with a challenge like that. We appreciate all you're doing to try and help her, and we know how tough it can be when those early interventions don’t work as hoped. We’re always here to help with guidance or support options. Wishing you and your sweet girl all the best!
