“The radios seem to be working, but it is only because of my decades as a Ham operator that they work at all. The "instructions" provided are entirely useless and a beginner will never figure out how to use these things. Getting both of them on the same frequency took several hours of hit and miss trying, as the instructions are pure trash. Forget about tones and such; no one has the time to get that feature to work. I would not recommend these radios to anyone who lacks years of experience using other similar products with real documentation.”

With all due respect, the very first line in our User Guide under "Radio Functions" states the following: "[Use [arrow buttons ] to scroll through the channels until you have reached your desired channel." Hi Scott, Inside each radio box we include a printed user guide. It offers a radio diagram and a basic introduction to the radio functions. There is a QR code you can scan with your phone in the top right hand corner of the guide that will automatically redirect you to our website where you can review the full 30 page manual. “I ordered and quickly received two handsets acquired during a recent sale. I wasn’t sure what I would receive based solely on what a lot of folks were posting online in social media being somewhat negative. BOY, they were absolute ring. If I would have listened to them, I would have missed out on a solidly built, well working, easily programmable HT. The radio came with preprogrammed frequencies which I used as a foundation to re-program said HT. I had to purchase the CPS program from a different vendor to assist me in using my laptop to program. All was fairly easy to do and within minutes of starting the programming I was done, up and running, clearly communicating with my other GMRS radio geeks in the field. Very good, truly rugged, easy to operate handset that i highly recommend. I would ask Rugged Radios to possibly throw into the package as a regular offer, the long antenna as part of the normal sale and the free access to the programming software through RR. A normal k2 programming (data) cable can be used so that could also be worked on as an option too. For those that want to re-program their handset if they wished anyway. Overall this was a super positive experience with the product and I assure you that I’ll be back to source my other communications devices/support equipment. TRULY IMPRESSED WITH RR!”

“I like the size and obvious quality of the radios, however, the manual lacks guidance for novices, and instructions on how to switch up the DCS codes is criptic, at best. I was still not able to connect to my area repeaters, so I was not able to utilize these functions. Also, the range dropped at just under a mile, leaving my family to resort to the use of cell phones instead.”
