The kids loved this world record kit. We tied it into the olympics and the kids designed their own records. When they each had at least 6 other chikldren attempt their records we grapghed the results using a variety of graphs. The record beating bunting is hung around our classroom making it look super festive.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? understanding superlatives, connections to the olympics/sport, maths - measurement
My students really enjoyed and looked forward to our world-record sessions. It was a great mix of learning concrete skills like measurement but with a solid dose of whimsey and creative problem-solving. It really my my learners think deeply and consider what needed to be involved. Was also great timing to be able to connect to the olympics and see sport world records in action.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Links to our inquiry, writing speeches to support and persuade and making connections in mathematics.
This was an excellent opportunity for our students to combine their understanding of measurement with activities linked in our Health and Physical Education units. The amount of Mathematics and activation that students were able to connect with and given this was inline with World events made it more authentic and memorable for them.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Literacy - in 2 languages as we are a bilingual class - students learnt to use superlatives and to be specific in the language they use to create sets of clear and indiscutable rules.
Our inquiry was about the Olympic Games and this kit was perfect to go with it. My students felt like they had their own OG in the classroom and had great fun creating all sorts of records while developing their languages and using maths skills.
