How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? we looked at how we react around other people and why sometimes we react differently. We looked at kindness towards others and looking in from another's perspective. This involved team work, classmates, students you didn't know so well, older and younger

The poetry, the art and discussions were beautiful. All students could access the activities regardless of their curriculum level. I am still working through the last piece of art.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be exploring this further with Harold and life education as I believe the kids need further education around this kaupapa and message.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? We broke down kotahitanga and what it means and how we can link it to our own personal definition on our own journies . Having this art allowed the conversation to be opened up through a different medium/perspective which I felt allowed students to freely

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? This opened a lot of discussion for us and as a Kaiako I didn't realise how little students actually understand art and how their is stories and meaning behind lots of art. It's an expression in it self
I really enjoyed this kit and the structure of it was easy to follow. I found it opened up many different pathways which allow my students to extend and we managed to have our own swing on it. Enjoyed this kit.

How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Art is so individual to each learner, but the kit gave us a central point to hinge on and we talked a lot about how differences and commonalities are part of the human experience.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? It was great to be able to visit the virtual exhibition and explore how each artist uses their art to share their message.
This was a great kit, and my class has benefitted greatly from the discussion about why the kotahitanga movement is necessary. Although we haven’t yet completely finished the resources (both physical and digital) made it easy to undertake.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? We learned that all art has a purpose. Started with neurographic art and the good old squiggle and went from there.
This unit worked in really well with our themes for this year - the first which was Turangawaewae and the current of Wellbeing. Building positivity and empathy has been key.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My students have continued the journey of questioning rights and freedoms. It has led them to ask questions of the school leadership and put in place new systems in class to support their peers. This kit helped to grow the artwork into social action.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? The provided poetry from Stephanie Christie really helped to open students' minds to the idea that not all people are treated the same. Questions arose from her work about their own rights and freedoms as individuals, and they considered their own privile

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? As a teacher who is not particularly strong within visual arts, this kit helped my students to feel as though they were contributing to something larger than themselves. This was an incredible kit for my students across Years 4-6. Through the provided resources, my students began asking really genuine questions about freedom, rights, and equality. They created beautiful, personal artworks and poetry based on the work of our supporting artists that they came away feeling extremely proud of. I would highly recommend this kit to other kaiako to make the most of!
