My Y6 class enjoyed the investigation aspect of the website. However I believe that the much of the website is aimed at older students and that the website needed to be made simpler for primary students aged Y4-6. Maybe seperate websites depending in age group.

We used this kit with a couple of our Intermediate classes and loved it! We are using this as a continued unit. Students have loved researching in-depth. They start to feel a real connection to the people and places that they are researching. We will continue to use this for as long as possible!

Having undertaken professional development this year about the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum I was excited to dive into this kit and explore the stories and resources. Though we didn't get as far into the kit as I had hoped due to time constraints, (We were busy with a school-wide inquiry into our school's history ahead of our 65th celebrations) we made a good start and are in a great place to leap back into it in Term 4. The students were really engaged with the location postcards, the physical historical items and the stories provided on the website. This was a well-resourced kit and it will be very useful for future use by other teachers at my school once I am finished with it.

We had the best of intentions on beginning our kit at the start of Term 3, however, due to interruptions (sports and other events) this lead us to only having the time to begin working through the kit 3 weeks before the end of the Term. As a whole class we started looking through "Tikkun Olam". Students have enjoyed working through the stories and learning more about this event in NZ Histories. We hope to continue working through more in the kit during Term 4.

What impressed me with the kit was the possibilities and lessons I could plan around each card and artifact. Being new to Lower Hutt it was exciting to discover alongside my students our local history. I found the Something Happened Here cards helpful they connected to a website that allowed my students to delve into long classroom conversations. The hardest part was knowing where to start.

My class enjoyed some of the stories but found it hard to navigate the dashboard on occasion as they are Y10 and they were working individually on different stories each. They were recording their learning in a way that was new to them also (on google sites) but having the images available digitally helped and the links. Some stories were more difficult than others with a lot of audio clips which were harder to listen to in a busy classroom. Some stories were surprising to the students and they mostly enjoyed the variety of different tasks they came across. Overall I did like using the kit but now having used it, would probably try different approaches to using it in class next time.
