How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Great. I loved the easy reference wheel and coded overarching learning objectives to refer to for each level of activity. It's surprising how much reflection I made on my own education, feeling embarrassed for the lack of prior knowledge I had about some of the material. For me having background links provided for me to further my own understanding was v helpful.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes I think the students will be far more engaged if it's something immediately relevant to them in their local rohe, which is why I started with 'observatiion' first. We discovered the pepeha for our area had a lot more to it.

The year 6,7,8, class that I come in to do release time engaged with about 4 postcard topics this term. While a small group of engaged students would have been ok to run with the website as is, I had to adapt the teaching of the material by using group collaborative learning and whole class led by me. Generally the class are able readers but I tailored each task by selecting the videos to watch, adding in an important relevant song that represented the theme and group writing and practice questiining skills to gain deeper thinking. The kit is full of relevant research and links all ready prepared, that would otherwise be very time consuming for students to navigate themselves. I thought having the skills and how to videos for research was helpful for students taking on their own Inquiry.

The trinkets and postcards and all the colourful hands-on resources really set this kit up for success. I have not completed the kit with my class yet as it fits the best for us in Term 4.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It took a while to get my head around this kit but having this resource makes me more confident when thinking about using this again!
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It showed me that there was so much unknown still out there for me to discover. This is something I want to use not only as a whole class inquiry but I think this would be great to use as independent reading tasks too.

This was full of information that we could not get through and it made me realise how little I knew of local stories and how important this kit is!

Students enjoyed the website although for many of my students, it was aimed too high - even the lower level activities. This is something that I personally will have to work on. Having the photos was amazing - they started lots of discussion not only at school but at home as well. I am aiming to continue using the kit next term as students want to learn more,.

Bravo to the creators of this kit! It was easy to use, ignited discussion, intrigue and passion among my learners. The concept of using stories and pepeha ensured students could relate to their own experiences. It was so wonderful to teach our history about our places, our experiences, using our stories. Could not recommend enough!

I really like the resources in the kit and they are very helpful, thank you very much. I've been finding it very difficult to navigate around your website to find out how to use the kit. I think the kit is probably more suited to year 5 and up. It's a bit over the heads of my year 4 students.
