How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I found out that the Bastion Point protest had a connection to our local Helensville area, which has motivated me to learn more.

“The content and resources were fantastic, but not really a good fit for my year 4/5 class, they would have struggled to work through the stories. Used as a whole class/small group activity.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This was a fantastic resource that was able to share information regarding different places in New Zealand. I will definitely be using this again and again.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The postcards that were used were great to see and use for different places in New Zealand. I also learnt a lot myself.

“Like all School Kits this one was just as amazing. This was done in a Rumaki senior classroom so the language had to be adapted but the resources in the box were useful because the students could use their own language reading the photos.”

“A wide range of learning contexts to select from. A really thorough resource. Unfortunately so many of the clips/videos etc. linked to the something happened here were unaccessible to the students online due to netsafe/internet restrictions. In many/most schools, YouTube clips etc. are not able to be viewed by students. Teachers use a number of work-arounds (eg purify, tu.be etc) so that students can access appropriate content safely. PLEASE in the the future, consider/explore ways of embedding clips to YOUR site, so that students can fully access the information.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The availability of information in one place is really helpful to deliver this curriculum, I like that combination of visuals such as images and videos to support the reading tasks. Also useful is the fact that this information is well sourced and reliable as you never know how reliable or authentic material is when using the internet as a source.

“A well-designed resource that is engaging with heaps of information for the students to explore. There is a pretty good balance between material that requires reading with visuals such as images and videos. There is however a great deal of reading required which some of my students found a little challenging and impacted their engagement at times. However, overall this is an excellent resource that makes teaching this topic straightforward, very helpful to have all the required information in one place”
