“A fantastic resource that is well thought out, engaging and comprehensive. My Year 7 & 8's have loved utilising this resource, some have even asked if they can get their own kit for home... Because it is designed for Years 4-10 and comes with the coded curriculum wheel I have found it easy to differentiate based on the learning needs within my classroom.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Definitely, it was great to have a different way of viewing locals areas e.g. the pictures themselves provided very rich resources that got curious minds working on where it was and then why relevant to us

“This kit provided images, stories, artefacts from right across Aotearoa and from all cultures so no matter who was in my learning group there really was something for everyone. The breadth of coverage was outstanding and to include unique local taonga was even more special for our kura.”

“Great Resource! Beautiful presentation and a well-thought-out kit. My students loved looking through the kit contents, which sparked intrigue. The website is very detailed and easy to navigate. I introduced this resource to a class of year 5,6,7 students, and there was a varying degree of reading ability among the group. Some of my lower readers found this very challenging and required a lot of teacher assistance. Is there a chance that audio could be added to the storylines and tasks? A video intro to hook students in - maybe a link from NZ onscreen to start the storyline or a short podcast to listen to. We also found that some of the tasks led students to pages that required a login to access. Overall, this kit is a beautiful resource and an amazing resource that will be cherished and embraced by many.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes absolutely, we could use the model to explore our local history by imitating the layout and presentation of each story to reflect an important local story.

“Despite there being an awesome website, it is frustrating that not all of the pages are finished. This severely limits the options available to students. When this is completed it will allow students much greater flexibility in exploring stories based on their interest and choice, instead of what is available. It is a beautifully presented physical kit (as school kit always is), and I will be able to use it for many years in my classroom. I'm grateful for such a great resource to support Aotearoa histories.”

“Was a little trickier than first thought. The pictures weren't always clear about what was happening. We stuck with the first column. Some of the pictures I clicked on weren't finished, they didn't have anything behind them. Obviously a work in progress. Felt some of the concepts were a little beyond my kids.”
