What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It was good to know the stories were told were given permission to be told, was good to be able to share that with the students i worked with.

“There are excellent resources within the kit, the online resources are difficult to navigate and hard to share with the students (or I didn't know how too in an easier way). The student website was okay some of the links didn't work. There were some interesting stories used. I thought this would be a great resource to use with my ESOL students to support them with their learning as a work along side project with what they were doing in class, it wasn't. But the resources ended up being used in the classroom and supporting the classroom teachers.”

“Aotearoa NZ Histories 23 is an amazing resource. This term I really only scratched the surface of the amazing potential this resource has. Being new to the Aoterao NZ Histories Curriculum and with a limited time frame, I adapted the resource to suit the ability of my class. They each chose a postcard and given the accompanying artefacts and website, they retold the story of what happened in their location. We then shared this at assembly and many teachers commented on how much they learned about our NZ History. I will use this resource again and again as it's such exceptional quality.”

“We live in a predominantly māori community and it wasn't until we started looking at the images and working through some of the stories that I realised just how sheltered our tamariki are and their awareness of other cultures was minimal. It opened our eyes and gave us an appreciation for things we knew noting about.”

“It took me a while to work out how the various pieces of the box worked together. However, once I found the time to explore the website, I understood then intentions. My year 7 and 8 class enjoyed the tasks - and being able to physically explore artefacts of the time. My more able students got more from the task - quite a few of my students found it challenging and needed to be quite teacher lead. But I was able to do this as I had the confidence in the unit provided.”
