How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I feel like it has given history more depth and breadth and allowed me to be more creative in my teaching
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The two ideas we covered in our first postcard have stretched into our local area inquiry which is a school wide inquiry. They have provided historical reference points.

This is a kit where you can shape your teaching and learning around student interest, current events and local curriculum. It is the kit that keeps on giving... We started with one postcard that stretched well beyond our initial inquiry and intertwined itself with out local history project. For next term, there is a postcard that fits perfectly with where we are heading next. It's easy to follow and can be easily differentiated.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has certainly helped to open my eyes to the many stories but I still feel unprepared.

My class have enjoyed working both as a group and individually on this kit although we have all found it a little overwhelming with the sheer amount of work involved. We have been using it for a whole term already and I feel like it could go for a whole year. It took us a little to get started and figure out how exactly to tackle it as we did one card together as a class. After this, the students were given an individual card to research and report back on in order to be more efficient. Some found this much easier than others depending on the ease of information but all in all they gained a better understanding of a story within our history. As a teacher I would love a few more ideas and instructions to know where to begin with this but if/when I tackle it again in the future I feel better prepared.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Absolutely. I think this kit will become part of our teaching every year as there are so many different ways for it to be used.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We could use the model but none of the cards were about our local area. However the latest journal is so we copied some of the activites and used that as a springboard

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Really cool- my jobshare teacher was not as confident as me at NZ histories and she personally got so much out of the unit. Will the unit stay online to be able to be used next year?

This was hands down the best resource I have ever used in the teaching of history/social studies. Everything about it was beautifully crafted, from the cards to the photos. Our children were so engaged in topics that they for the most part had no knowledge about. There was something for everyone as the topics were engaging and interesting to Year 7/8 children

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I felt confident with the backing of an in-depth resource that was created with the voices of the tangata the resource is detailing the history of.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I am very interested in the history of our local area, we could extend the inquiry for students to create their own 'postcard' of our area.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This made it feel like it was a culturally responsive resource and I felt like my responsibility to Te Tiriti was not in jeopardy from using the resource.

Teacher PD - this resource is amazing just to go through as a kaiako and read all of the information. It has taught me a lot about Aotearoa's history and I feel as though it is a considered resource that covers all factors of the events at the time. It includes multiple perspectives and has created some interesting conversation within my teaching team about our history. Even as a PD resource I recommend it! Student use - we have just started using this resource with our students (we will continue it in term 4). We decided to start as a team with Promises and work through this post card together. We have a team of years 5-6 with mixed ability working at all levels of the curriculum from 1-4. We have scaffolded the resource and used kahoot quizzes to make it fun an engaging. It is great to have a range of resources the students can engage with to explore the story of Promises (e.g. videos, audio, reading, images etc). It falls into the UDL framework having multiple ways to receieve information. We are also creating our own way of students displaying their learning using a map in our class. We plan to let the students do a self-guided inquiry based on one of the postcards of their choosing next.

We found this kit very interesting and helped me get my head around a part of the curriculum that I am not super confident in. It helped us build the skills we needed to get started with some research projects.

I used this school kit with my Year 10 Social Studies class. I chose the Mana Rangatiratanga card because this was relevant to the NZ Land Wars topic we are doing at the moment. I felt even within that one card there was so much to unpack: which is good but also hard for my students to get their heads around.

Excellent resources, especially the "artefacts" provided. These provoked wonderful discussions amongst the students.
