How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We had already started exploring our local history over previous years and will be able to utilise this model to look further.

“We have only started to delve into the postcards and begin using this resource. What we have looked at so far has been fantastic, with a huge amount of detail in each story. My class of year 7s have been working through this as a whole class project - going through one postcard at a time. The amount of information and detail in each is fantastic and has sparked some deep and meaningful conversations amongst the class. A few of the activities have proven a little difficult (even the lower levelled) so it has been worthwhile working through them as a group. Really looking forward to unpacking more of the stories!”

“What a resource! This was used by our Year 7 & 8 class and the stories and conversations that stemmed from this resource allowed whakawhanaungatanga to occur. There were connections made between our tamariki and their whanau. To have our tamariki asking when we could look at another story because they were engaged was impressive. All schools should have access to this resource to support the new Aotearoa Histories curriculum.”
