How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Lots of interesting stories. We'd love more to do with our specific region. The initial ideas and stories were awesome. The connecting tasks and links were at times a little difficult to access and understand for Year 7/8 students independently. ty.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has had a huge impact. I was not confident at all prior to getting the kit to teach NZ History. I no longer need to spend hours searching for material as it is all right there in the one place.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I have just moved to another region of NZ and the kit has helped me to springboard myself and my students into learning more about our local area. We were able to visit the local museum and it was wonderful for the students to be able to share their knowledge from the kit with the museum staff.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It meant that we got a broad and varied view of the historical events - not just the NZ Euro view. This meant the learning for our Maori and Pasifika students was authentic and they kept wanting to learn more.

“This is such an amazing kit. Myself and my Year 7 students have been so engaged with the very rich learning that comes from this kit. We initially used the kit materials and the extensive website to investigate historical events. However, we have carried the learning over from the kit to other areas of the curriculum. It is super simple to incorporate the learning into almost all areas of the school curriculum. The students have been choosing to use the website to help their self-directed learning. I will keep using this year after year and have recommended it to many other teachers.”

“This kit is absolutely wonderful. I love the resources that came with it and the activities are interesting. Thank you! The down side is that there are way too many digital resources to download and the way it is set up is not user-friendly or easy to use again in following years. I much preferred the old School Kit layout of one PDF with all of the tasks and resources on the one document.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has been a great support for our delivery of NZ Histories. We have used it as part of our "immersion" phase of inquiry where it worked to cover content that was vital to our learning.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We really enjoyed how it had cards with images and words, but no context. It means that the kids were going in blindly to their learning and discovering something new entirely.

“Absolutely love this kit. It is hands-on and ticks many boxes for covering the curriculum: history, te reo, inquiry, research skills, etc. The only slight issue is that the student website wasn't quite complete. There were a few cards/images where the website said "coming soon" which limited our research throughout the term.”

“I have a year 3 & 4 class and was prepared for the fact that it might be a little hard for them. All kids loved looking at the resources and talking about them and sharing their own experiences but only my more able students were able to get a deeper level of understanding. I still think the less able ones benefited from the exposure though and it was a fantastic idea and kit of items.”

“I had already begun to develop a plan for class learning in the Histories curriculum and was supported by one of the SchoolKit team to add depth to this using the kit. We were able to find different elements on the kit's 'wheel' to complement the aspects I had planned to follow. The supporting resources really increased my own knowledge of our histories and I felt that I was better equipped to facilitate this with my students. I also appreciated other resources, such as the links to the curriculum pages - helping to develop my understanding of the A NZ H curriculum. I believe this is a kit I could use multiple times as there is such a wealth of content.”
