“We fit this with our topic 'Land Loss and Legacy'. I did one of the topics with the students and then they did one of their own. They found it really interesting. There were so many resources in the kit.”

“Man this kit is chocka full of some wonderful stuff - the only thing is it took me several weeks of the term to truly understand how to use it. I am really looking forward to doing it again next year and doing it properly.”

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Incredible! This is one of the purposes of the new curriculum. It also meant that we did not have to find out the information ourselves, especially when teaching makes you very time poor.

“School Kit made the teaching of ANZHC easier. As always, new initiatives must be resourced well. However, the lack of resourcing is unsurprising and that's where School Kit stepped in. We received numerous photos, artefacts and other amazing ideas for teaching the new curriculum. They were easy to use, free, interesting, well made, durable and did I mention free? The best item was the 'something happened here' resource. Our students analysed the photos, with prompting from teachers, and were able to glean enormous amounts of insights into the way things were. Thanks School Kit, I'll definitely be using your services again!”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It is so well resourced it makes it easy. Having the website to guide us is fantastic. The different level of questions are great as we can direct our learners to tasks that suit them.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes but I am not sure I have the skills to set up the resources. Our area is rich in history just like all areas in Aotearoa. It has motivated me to do a better job of our local area.

“This was a very busy unit. I am using it with Year 7 students and the tasks were a little 'loose' for them. I just reorganised parts and set it out so I could load it into google classroom on a doc they could write on. They are very awesome activities but my group of students did not have the skills to work through the activities the way they were set out. The range of activities is great and the Te Reo is fantastic. We will use it over the year and next year. We are doing one every couple of weeks and I now have a few students who are up to working through the tasks by themselves. The stories are real and very engaging. Thank you!”
